ASEAN accredits DPWH-XI civil engineers

There are now more DPWH - XI Civil Engineers accredited with ASEAN FEDERATION OF ENGI- NEERING ORGANIZATIONS (AFEO), ASEAN stands for Association of Southeast Asian Nations of which there are 10-member nations: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The accreditation of the latest batch was bestowed during the conferment at Puerto Princesa, Palawan during the 34th Year Conference of the Organization on November 21, 2016.

Worries end after Kapalong River Dike construction

The municipality of Kapalong is one of the most flood - prone areas in the province of Davao Del Norte. This is because of the existence of the Libuganon River, a major river system in the province that through the course of history, has already claimed numerous lives and properties because of its unpredictability.

With the construction of the 191.4 linear-meter river bank protection along Barangay Maniki, residents have breathed a sigh of relief knowing that they are now well-protected by the newly constructed structure.

DPWH completes Widening of Surigao Sur-Davao Coastal Road

Roads are a prime factor in the transportation and movement of people and goods from one place to another. It hastens mobility which greatly contributes to the economic growth of the country.

As a Department geared towards progress with a desire for a more developed society, the DPWH Davao Oriental First District Engineering Office implemented the Improvement/Widening of (Nat’l Road) Surigao Del Sur Boundary – Davao Oriental Coastal Road. The project was undertaken by Hexamindz Corporation and was completed on November 5, 2016.

DPWH RD recipient of the first UP Gawad Oblation

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region V Regional Director Reynaldo G. Tagudando is one of the recipients of the University of the Philippines’ (UP) first Gawad Oblation in a ceremony held on February 7, 2017 at the UP Professional Schools in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila.

Gawad Oblation is a special award given by the UP President to UP alumni and friends for “extraordinary service with or in the name of UP”.

Fourteen (14) individuals from government and industry all over the country made up the first UP Gawad Oblation awardees.

P23-B worth of Infra Projects to be implemented by DPWH Eastern Visayas in 2017

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 8 will implement a total of 834 infrastructure projects region-wide amounting to P23-B for FY 2017 based on General Appropriation Act (GAA).

Along with its 12 District Engineering offices, Regional Office 8 has already completed pre-detailed engineering (PDE) for 621 while 146 projects are undergoing PDE. A total of 670 projects are with on-going pre-construction while 586 of all 834 projects were already bid out.

VILLAR: Laguna Lake Highway Phase I to Open Feb 9

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that by February 9, two (2) new lanes of the Laguna Lake Highway, formerly known as C-6 Dike Road will be serviceable to the public.

“The opening of the additional two (2) lanes from from Napindan to M. L. Quezon section in Taguig City is the first phase of the Laguna Lake Highway project, which is expected to reduce travel time from Taytay to Bicutan by about 50% ,” Villar said.

San Agustin-Pagsanghan Road completed

Samar First District Engineering Office of Department of Public Works and Highways has finally completed the construction of San Agustin-Pagsanghan Road under the General Appropriation Act (GAA) of 2016.

The project includes the concreting of 3 150 linear meters of road covering Brgy. San Agustin to Pagsanghan, Samar.

With a contract amount of P50 Million, the construction of San Agustin-Pagsanghan Road is one of the high impact projects of Samar I.

Better Route in Gines Patag, Cabatuan Underway

The advocacies of Iloilo Governor Arthur D. Defensor Sr. are better traffic management and regulations, maintenance and improvement of national and provincial roads, apprehension of traffic violators and coordination with other agencies by creating a road safety task force.

The roles of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on these advocacies are to conduct yearly inspections and put up road signs, provide bike lanes and loading and unloading bays and prompt completion of road projects.

Safer Roads ensured for Dinagyang and Ati-Atihan Festivals

In anticipation of the two major festivals in Panay Island this month – the Kalibo Ati-atihan Festival, which is scheduled on January 9-15 and Iloilo Dinagyang Festival on January 20-22, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region VI has made the roads ready and safe, considering the volume of both foreign and local tourists expected to witness these events.

School, Municipal Annex Buildings built in Leon, Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Fourth District Engineering Office has constructed two structures in the town of Leon, province of Iloilo.

According to District Engineer Edmund V. Opinion, an amount of P8.207 Million was poured for the construction of 2-Storey, 6-Classroom school building at Leon National High School.

Opinion added that the school building could cater at least 300 students considering the 50 students per classroom ratio, preferably for the Grades 11 and 12 as part of the K-12 Program of the Department of Education.
