DPWH mobilizes skeletal force in Southern Leyte for Holy Week

Motorists who will spend the Lenten season in Southern Leyte can expect 24-hour assistance along major roads as the Southern Leyte District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways reactivated its “Lakbay Alalay” program from April 10-17, 2017.

A skeletal force consisting of 16 personnel and mechanics from the District Office is deployed in six strategic areas along national roads to assist the riding public on emergency situations.

DPWH bares completion of P631-M Road Upgrading Project

The Quirino District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 02 has completed a high-impact road upgrading project amounting to P631, 827, 100 million pesos located along Junction Dumabato-Aurora Boundary in Cordon-Aurora Road.

The newly-improved secondary road network stretching to 38.88 kilometers has undergone major rehabilitation efforts which include concreting of unpaved gravel road sections and installation of drainage system and slope protection structures.

DPWH to Expedite work on Manila Flood-Control Project this Holy Week

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will take advantage of the Holy Week break to rush the construction works on a project that will minimize flooding around the vicinity of Manila City Hall.

DPWH-NCR Director Melvin B. Navarro said starting on Holy Wednesday, April 12, 2017, total road closure on the northbound direction of Bonifacio Drive corner P. Burgos Street in Port Area, Manila will be implemented for the installation of reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC).

New Building Constructed at Guimaras State College

About 200 tertiary students of Guimaras State College (GSC) - Mosqueda Campus in Jordan, Guimaras will be given conducive learning environment at the newly constructed 2-storey academic building.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Guimaras District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed the construction of the school building that will be used by the College of Business Administration.

According to District Engineer Rolando P. Ubaldo, the building 27.0 meters by 9.5 meters at the GSC - Mosqueda Campus, consists four classrooms, a library and an office.

DPWH to Submit Proposals for Trade and Industry Growth

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6 held an instructional and orientation meeting on the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL-IT) program at DPWH Regional Office.

The ROLL-IT program was patterned after the success of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and DPWH Convergence Program called Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP).

DPWH to Provide Public Assistance on Holy Week

District Engineering Offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 6 has been alerted in view of the observance of Holy Week.

DPWH Region 6 Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. instructed District Engineers in Western Visayas to fast-track all on-going projects particularly those which are along national roads to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the Lent season.

Make a close monitoring of your on-going projects in order to complete them on time,” ordered Leaño.

DPWH Albay 2nd DEO lends helping hands to victims of Typhoon Nina.

The Albay Second District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) held relief operations on areas devastated by Typhoon Nina in the Bicolandia.

District Engineer Danilo J. Villa Jr. and Assistant District Engineer Eleanor L. Areola spearheaded the relief operation on areas identified by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) as severely damaged by Typhoon Nina.

More than 500 families from Brgy. Baybay, Malinao benefitted from the relief operation where groceries and used clothes were distributed.

Villar visits projects in Bicol Region

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar conducted random inspection on the projects in Region V after the onslaught brought by Typhoon Nina.

Villar specifically checked the condition of projects in Camarines Sur, Albay, and Catanduanes, the areas directly affected by Typhoon Nina when it hit the region on Christmas Day.

On a meeting with the key officials in the regional office, Villar urged the construction of an expressway running from Lucena City in Quezon province to the provinces and cities in Bicol.
