DPWH Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency, Accountability, and Infrastructure Development in Post-SONA Briefing

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, accountability, and infrastructure development during the Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Discussions held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

This came two days after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered his fourth SONA, emphasizing stronger infrastructure governance and calling for a comprehensive audit of flood control projects implemented over the past three years.

Crising, Dante, Emong, and Habagat Infra Damage Now at P3.75-B

As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the combined effects of Southwest Monsoon, Tropical Cyclones Crising and Dante and Tropical Storm Emong has left P3.75 billion worth of damage to public infrastructure.

Citing the latest report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the partial cost damage which is still subject to field validation, covers P483.69 million damage to national roads, P24.48 million national bridges, and P3.25 billion flood control structures in Ilocos Region, Region 3, 4B, 6, and Negros Island Region.

SIDC Bridge Reaches 40% Completion, Advancing Connectivity with Strong Environmental Safeguards

The construction of the Samal Island–Davao City Connector (SIDC) Bridge, a flagship infrastructure project of the national government, has reached the 40% completion mark, according to a recent progress report by Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
