There are now more DPWH - XI Civil Engineers accredited with ASEAN FEDERATION OF ENGI- NEERING ORGANIZATIONS (AFEO), ASEAN stands for Association of Southeast Asian Nations of which there are 10-member nations: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The accreditation of the latest batch was bestowed during the conferment at Puerto Princesa, Palawan during the 34th Year Conference of the Organization on November 21, 2016.
This prestigious organization accredits engineers from all over the ASEAN member nations after passing its stringent requirements. Aside from Civil Engineers who must also be an accredited member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) other professional engineering organizations are likewise accepted such as: Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines (SAEP), Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers (PSAE), Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE), Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP), Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM), Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP), Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SONAME), Philippine Society of Sanitary Engineers (PSSE), Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE).
Presently, there are now 32 civil engineers coming from the DPWH-XI regional office and its 8 District Engineering Offices, namely: (in alphabetical order) Aguilar, Wilfredo G.; Alquiza, Mariano R.; Basañes, Noel C.; Bermejo, Elias P.; Caballero, Joselito B.; Cainghog, Alberto L.; Capili, Elmer C.; Cariaga, Ronald; Del Fierro, Eva M.; Ebarle, Nora C.; Gudito, Lyslie T.; Jacob, Edwin L.; Jaravata, Daniel A.; Lacasandile, Aurora M.; Larete, Rodrigo C.; Lasaca, Cirilo M.; Lozano, Gene P.; Mabanglo, Leo A.; Minda, Roslinda R.; Ortiz, Edwin M.; Palmera, Robert S.; Pangan, Andrew; Placer Noe V.; Ricardo, Lorna T.; Robin, Lorna B.; Robin, Rico R.; Samon, Jeffrey C.; Sevilla, Edward R.; Sorrera, Ma. Gloria G.; Suela, Rebecca J.; Tiu, Cynthia C.; and Vasquez, Elmo R. With their conferment, medals and certificates of their accreditation and acceptance into the role of the organization were bestowed to each deserving member. With this accreditation ASEAN engineers are now at par with the best of their counterparts anywhere in the world, making them even more in demand. The need for technical men and women especially professional engineers in a market-driven economy such as the fast growing ASEAN region is so tremendous. Filipino engineers especially are welcome because of their proficiency with the English language. Wherever they are, they excel in their work making them top choice in the job market.
The next conference and conferment for the new members will be in Thailand in 2017.
