Department of Public Works and Highways – Samar First District Engineering Office (DPWH-SFDEO) completed 28 new school building projects for under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF).
The newly constructed buildings comprised of 19 school buildings in Calbayog Division, and nine school buildings in Samar Division.
Department of Public Works and Highways-13 Engineers had a glimpse of the new Project and Contract Management Application (PCMA) during the road show training on June 9, 2016 at Balanghai, Hotel, Butuan City.
The Regional Office along with Surigao del Sur 1st District Office and Agusan del Norte District Office were just among the ten DPWH offices to become pilot users of this new system.
Department of Public Works and Highways’ most notable secretary, Rogelio L. Singson has this last policy instruction to recommend to management which is to impose ‘limit’ on annual funding for each project implemented by the Department to address underspending of budget. This was disclosed by the secretary during his recent visit to Caraga Region, his last before he bows out of the department come June 30, 2016.
Taking advantage of the favorable weather condition in the project site, Department of Public Works and Highways-North Samar 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSSDEO) hastens the construction and widening of the permanent bridges along Pangpang-Palapag-Mapanas-Gamay-Lapinig (PPMGL) Road in the Pacific Area of Northern Samar.
These projects include nine (9) bridges widening from one (1) lane to two (2) lanes with a total budget of 170.4 million pesos under DPWH C.Y. 2015 Infrastructure Program.

Their oath-taking was made even more special and memorable with outgoing Secretary Rogelio L. Singson administering their oath and having Asec. Dimas Soguillon, RD Evelyn T. Barroso, ARD Efren A. Berba, District Engineers and Division Chiefs as witnesses.

The Panguil Bay Bridge Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways had finally concluded the signing of Loan Agreement with the Export-Import Bank of Korea-Economic Development Cooperation Fund (KEXIM-EDCF) at the Bureau of Treasury, Intramuros, Manila last April 28, 2016.
Under the Department of Education (DepEd) Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VIII accomplished a total of 1,156 new school buildings projects in Eastern Visayas.
Out of 1,504 school buildings targeted to be constructed in the six provinces of the region, 348 are still on-going and 114 suffered construction delays.
A total amount of P6.609 Billion is allotted for infrastructure programs of the Regional Office for fiscal year 2016, based on the FY 2016 General Appropriations Act (GAA) of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Region VI, according to Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr.
Said amount corresponds to a total of 77 projects, 11 of which have appropriation of P150.0 Million and above, while 51 projects have appropriation of P50.0 Million up to P150.0 Million and 15 projects have appropriation of below P50.0 Million.
