DPWH Cavite I DEO Completes School Building Project In Carmona

The Department of Public Works and Highways Cavite I District Engineering Office has joined in the turn-over ceremony of the newly constructed P40-million school building project under the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III led the turn-over of new 4-storey, 20-classroom structure to Carmona Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion, Carmona, Cavite, built under the “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” Program which aims to provide more classrooms and alleviate school building shortage in the Philippines.

DPWH Batangas III District Engineering Office together with the Honorable Congressman Nelson “Sonny” P. Collantes, 3rd District of Batangas, Honorable Mayor Daniel D. Reyes, Agoncillo, Batangas, Members of Sangguniang Bayan, Barangay Chairmen and Mrs. Maitet Collantes, inaugurated the Kulafu Bridge last April 29, 2016.

This Bridge project endorsed by Congressman Collantes is one of the significant accomplishments of the District Engineering Office.

DPWH Launches River Flow Monitoring and Management Website

A DPWH public portal that will serve as a source of open data for monitoring and management of river flows in the country will soon be available.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the DPWH has partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability (Be Secure) Project to come up with a website that will transform DPWH’s current stream flow data sets into digitized format to be used in incorporating measures to flood mitigation and management.

MYPS and PCMA Roadshow in R7

The Department of Public Works and Highways showcased the Multi-Year Programming and Scheduling (MYPS) and the Project and Contract Management Applications in Region 7 last May 20-21, 2016.

The two-day roadshow was conducted to promote advocacy and awareness in the use of these two applications and encourage direct involvement and participation of all concerned.

Quality School Buildings in Time for June Opening

To resolve the gap in student classroom ratio in Western Mindanao, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IX fast tracks the implementation of school building projects in time for the opening of classes in June.

As of May 31, 2016, DPWH IX completed 311 classrooms while 1,139 classrooms are on-going for a total cost of Ph2.1B under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of the Department of Education (DepEd).

DPWH Southern Leyte Joins Brigada Eskwela

The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) joined the Department of Education (DepEd) in their Brigada Eskwela by stepping up efforts to prepare classrooms, school grounds, and roads for the new academic year.

District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia ordered about half of SLDEOs maintenance workers to participate in the weeklong school preparation activities, heeding requests of the DepEd, by cleaning school grounds and repainting classrooms.

Second Leyte District Engineering Office Reports 31% Accomplishment Midway Into 2016

The Second Leyte Engineering District (2nd LED) of the Department of Public Works and Highways posted more than 31% of accomplished projects programmed and budgeted for 2016.

Of the 68 total number of infrastructure projects being undertaken in the second district, 17 have already been completed while 32 are still ongoing.

There remain 18 projects which have yet to be started. These include the Php-48 million completion of the remaining parts of the Burauen-Albuera Road and the Php 23.4 million Pinamitinan Bridge in Pinamopoan, Capoocan, Leyte.

Millennium Road Closing Event

The Provinces of Western and Eastern Samar is now connected by a 222-kilometer all weather concrete paved road with 62 permanent bridges traversing a total of 15 municipalities made possible through a grant given by the people of the United States of America to the Philippines through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) under the terms of a compact signed between the two (2) countries in 2010. Weekend Repair of 3 Roads in Quezon City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will undertake reblocking and repair at Quezon City’s three (3) major roads of Commonwealth, Mindanao and Congressional Avenues beginning 10 PM Friday, May 27, 2016.

In an advisory by the DPWH National Capital Region, motorists will experience lane reduction with the repair of 2nd lane from island along southbound direction of Commonwealth Avenue between Commonwealth Market to West Riverside overpass.
