Outgoing Secretary Rogelio L. Singson on Wednesday, June 22 2016, visited the DPWH XI Regional Office in Davao City as part of his final tour of the DPWH Regional Offices all over the country. He was welcomed by no less than Regional Director Mariano R. Alquiza, ARD Tomas Rodriguez and more than a hundred well-wishers from the Regional and District Offices.
Two (2) road sections in Benguet and Mountain Province in Cordillera Administrative Region are impassable due to damage caused by continuous heavy rains induced by southwest monsoon referred to as the “habagat” brought by Typhoon Butchoy.
In a report submitted to the Department of Public Works and Highways Head Office, the DPWH – Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) identified closed section in Benguet as Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road, K0275+209 (detour road). The detour road was washed out by the strong current brought by flash flood.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now implementing the P356 million Flood-risk management project for Cagayan River, Tagoloan River, and Imus River (FRIMP-CTI) in Regions 2, 10, and 4-A respectively.

The Department of Public Works and Highways opened a 53-kilometer national road that traverses from Mulondo, Maguing, Bumbaran and Wao, all in Lanao del Sur to the municipality of Maramag in Bukidnon. The opening of the new road decreased travel time in crossing neighboring cities and provinces.
Four engineers from DPWH XII topped the nationwide concluding examination of the simultaneous 1st Batch CY 2016 Comprehensive Training for Provisional Accreditation of DPWH Field Engineers.
Ranking 7th Place was Engr. Gershon T. Insular of Cotabato II DEO based in Midsayap, North Cotabato while Engr. Moises Glenn Hollite of the Regional Office was at 9th Place. Also among the 10th Placers were Abdul Gafar M. Abas from the Regional Office and Engr. Joylene T. Celeste of Cotabato II DEO.
27 newly appointed Engineer II employees of the eight District Engineering Offices (DEOs) of Regional Office XII who comprised the 2nd Batch of CY 2016 Comprehensive Training for Provisional Accreditation of DPWH Field Engineers passed the concluding exam conducted last June 10, 2016 simultaneously in all 16 regions nationwide.
During his meeting in DPWH Region XII last June 22, 2016, Sec. Rogelio L. Singson emphasized to nurture and continuously train young and smart engineers because he considers that they could help serve the country instead of working abroad.
A total of 340 participants attended the Road Show on Multi Year Programming and Scheduling (MYPS) and Project and Contract Management Application (PCMA), which was conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) last June 27 and 28 at the Smallville 21 Hotel, here.
Said participants were composed of Assistant Regional Directors, Division/Section Chiefs, Project Engineers, Project Inspectors and Monitoring Engineers from DPWH Region 6 and DPWH Negros Island Region.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) conferred the ISO 9001:2008 certification to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 02 for its Quality Management System (QMS).
DPWH Regional Office 02 and Isabela Second District Engineering Office were among the 35 new offices included in the expansion of DPWH’s QMS. ISO 9001:2008 Certification is an accreditation conducted by external certification bodies to ensure that an organization performs their inter-related processes with international standards.
