Substantial School Bldg Projects Accomplishments Eyed

The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) is eyeing a substantial accomplishment in their school building construction in time for the opening of new academic year on June 13, 2016.

Out of 53 school building projects in different sites in the province, 13 have been completed and 37 are still ongoing as of this week.

Four projects have been suspended due to redesign of foundation up for review by the Bureau of Design. Before, it failed the soil bearing capacity test conducted.

Road Right of Way Clearing Gains Ground in Southern Leyte

About 212 structures have been removed from road sides along major thoroughfares in Southern Leyte as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) steps up drive to recover the road right of way.

Of the 212 structures removed, 100 of these were along Junction Himayangan-Silago-Abuyog Boundary Road, 74 in Boundary Southern Leyte-Maasin-Macrohon-Sogod Daang Maharlika, 16 in Liloan-San Ricardo Road, eight in DaangMaharlika, seven in Bato-Bontoc Road, and six in Abuyog-Silago Road.

Farm-to-Market Road Benefits Coco Planters in Agusan del Norte

A newly paved farm-to-market road (FMR) in Brgy Poblacion, Carmen, Agusan del Norte, constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), is now benefiting hundreds of coconut planters, easing the transport of the crop and rendering additional income.

“Coconut farmers can already transport their products easily to any points of Agusan del Norte and even to other neighboring provinces with our upgrading of Kabayawa-Pintoloca farm-to-market road,” said District Engineer Nicolas O. Alameda.

DPWH Improves Tourism Road in Batangas

Tourists and beach-goers experienced a smoother and better travel time from the national road to various resorts in Lemery, Batangas this summer season due to an improved access road.

The Php 18.4 million road improvement project in Brgy. Nonong Casto, Lemery, Batangas was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways – Batangas I District Engineering Office in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and the Batangas Province LGU.

Singson Warns Vs Influence-Peddlers

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson warned DPWH officials and contractors against those making calls and sending messages to inform that they are well-connected with the incoming new administration.

Name-droppers and influence peddlers are expected to operate especially during the transition period, said Secretary Singson

Travel Advisory: Bridge Closure in Batangas, Camarines Sur and Pangasinan

Three (3) bridges in Batangas, Camarines Sur and Pangasinan are closed to vehicular traffic due to on-going construction activities.

The Lapu-Lapu Bridge along San Jose-Ibaan Provincial Road in Brgy. Lapu-Lapu, Ibaan, Batangas was closed to vehicular from May 4, 2015 to November 16, 2015 to give way to on-going construction/replacement works.

Appropriate warnings including directional signs for detour roads are installed to guide motorists and commuters.

In Pili, Camarines Sur, San Jose Bridge was closed to vehicular traffic from May 14 to May 30, 2015.

DPWH Installs Rainwater Collection Systems in Southern Leyte

DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (SLDEO) Chief Ma. Margarita C. Junia announces the installation of PHP3.28 million combined worth of several rainwater facilities in 23 sites to help address water shortage concerns within the area.

Recipient schools, public markets and other government facilities in Southern Leyte will receive a rainwater harvesting unit costing P 70,000 which can collect and store up to 1,200 liters of rainwater from the roof, groundwater catchment or multi-purpose pavement for eventual use during dry season.
