DPWH Southern Leyte Proposes P3.26-B Outlay for 2017

The Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) in Maasin City is eyeing a P3.26 billion worth of infrastructure projects for the province in 2017, more than double of its current allotment.

The DPWH field office recently submitted their shortlist of 76 projects to the regional office and central office for the inclusion in the 2017 DPWH Infrastructure Program under the General Appropriations Act.

P8-M Worth of School Building Ready for Use

Department of Public Works and Highways Agusan del Norte District Engineeing Office recently turned offer the much awaited unit of 1-storey school building, with 6 classrooms, to Pirada Elementary School whose location is at the foot of the mountain in Barangay Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

Prior to the construction of the school building, parents and teachers raised their concerns for the well-being of the Pirada Elementary School students because some of the classes were conducted at the school stage due to insufficiency of classrooms.

Villar Formally Assumes DPWH Leadership

The official seal of the Department of Public Works and Highways symbolizing the reins of leadership was formally handed over to Secretary Mark A. Villar by Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut during the ceremonial turn-over held August 3, 2016 at the DPWH Head Office. Secretary Villar at 38 is the youngest Cabinet member of the President Rodrigo R. Duterte administration and the 43rd head of the 118-year old DPWH.

2 Roads in CAR Closed Due to Tropical Depression 'Carina'

Two (2) road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are still closed to traffic due to landslide and washed out detour bridge brought by Tropical Storm “Carina”.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) reported the impassable roads in CAR as the Abra-Kalinga Road (K0484+700, K0485+100, K0486+980, K0488+200, K0489+800) in Abra which was closed following a landslide, and Kabugao-Pudtol-Luna Road (K0612+961, Nagyadan Section) in Apayao which was closed due to washed out detour road of Nagyadan Bridge No. 2.

6 Topnotchers for Field Engineers Training

The first batch of Comprehensive Training for Provisional Accreditation of DPWH Field Engineers seminar has six participants from Regional Office 7 who landed on the top ten of the examination: 2nd place—Dennis A. Tumala of Siquijor DEO, 6th Place—Arian A. Casquejo of DPWH RO 7, Nilo L. Peledingue of Bohol 1st DEO, 9th place—Mon Carlo D. Frejoles of Negros Oriental 1st DEO and 10th place—Raymond L. Cataluna of DPWH RO7 and Annevic B. Gargar of Negros Oriental 1st DEO.
