A 574-meter flood control project was completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to provide long-term protection for the local communities living near the Aringay River Basin in Barangay Linapew, Tubao, La Union.

“The flood control structure now prevents the Aringay River from overflowing that causes damage to surrounding agricultural and residential areas along Barangays Lloren, Pideg, and Caoigue in the Town of Aringay,” said DPWH Regional Director Ronnel M. Tan in a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.

Riverside communities in Barangay San Nicolas, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro are now reassured from the harrowing impact of persistent flooding following the completion of a flood control structure along the Panggalaan River undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of the 115 lineal meters four-lane concrete paved bypass road in Carcar City, Cebu, finishing the project ahead of schedule as part of its effort to improve connectivity in local communities.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cebu 1st District Engineer Jeffrey V. Estrada said that the newly-constructed Carcar City Bypass Road now serves as a reliable alternative route, significantly ensuring traffic in Carcar City’s busy downtown area.

Two (2) river protection projects were recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH aimed at reducing flood risks in the riverside areas of Santiago, Agusan del Norte.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the projects with combined cost of P270.2 million were implemented along sections of Aciga River and Kalinawan River in Barangay La Paz and Barangay Poblacion 1.
