DPWH Upgrades Landslide-Prone Road in Misamis Occidental

Tourists and locals can expect safer travels as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undertakes the rehabilitation and improvement of an access road in Barangay Kanao-Kanao, Municipality of Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.

Based on a report submitted by the DPWH Regional Office 10, the on-going ₱125-million, four-lane access road project measures a total of 1.40 kilometers, connecting the Municipalities of Bonifacio and Don Victoriano.

Partial Infra Damage by Enteng, SW Monsoon Hits P139.56-M

As of 12 noon Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Typhoon ‘Enteng’ and Southwest Monsoon have caused an estimated P139.56 million worth of damage to national roads, bridges, and flood control structures in five (5) affected regions of Luzon and Visayas.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, said that the partial cost of damage to infrastructure is broken down into P84.39 million damage to roads, P12.420 million on bridges, and P42.75 million on flood control structures.

The DPWH has completed the installation of essential road safety devices along the Lucena-Tayabas-Lucban-Sampaloc-Mauban Port Road, ensuring motorists’ safety, especially along the challenging terrain of Barangays Kilib, Kabatete, and Piis in Lucban, Quezon.

The Lucena-Tayabas-Lucban-Sampaloc-Mauban Port Road is known for its winding, sloping terrain, particularly within the mountainous regions of Lucban. Several segments are prone to accidents, and the absence of street lighting has further increased the risk for motorists, especially at night.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is ramping up the ongoing construction of a flood control structure along the Sta. Fe River which aims to protect agricultural lands and residential areas from flooding in Barangay Bone North, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 2, said that the construction of the flood mitigation structure along the Sta. Fe River is now 74.28 percent and is targeted to be completed by October 2024.

Completed in Barangay Sto. Domingo is the reconstruction of a 522-meter, four (4)-lane portion of Guimaras Circumferential Road with raising of road elevation as a flood safety measure.

Road Improvement Projects Foster Agri Areas of Davao Oriental

Two (2) local road sections were recently paved to provide better access for the rural communities in Mati City and in the town of Lupon, Davao Oriental Province.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon identified one (1) of the turned-over projects as the concrete paved 2-lane road in Barangay Tamisan in Mati City which is now being utilized by locals in the area, mostly coconut, banana, and mango tree farmers.
