Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the projects with combined cost of P270.2 million were implemented along sections of Aciga River and Kalinawan River in Barangay La Paz and Barangay Poblacion 1.
One (1) of the projects involved the construction of 390-meter concrete dike from Aciga River in Poblacion 1 to Kalinawan River in La Paz. The project was completed in the amount of P144.75 million in May 2024.
Also in Barangay Poblacion, the DPWH completed the repair and reconstruction of a 357-meter road dike along Aciga River costing P125.45 million.
“These newly-completed structures are designed as a protective barrier against water runoff and soil erosion that triggers flooding in riverside communities and low-lying areas,” said Director delos Santos.
