The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of the 115 lineal meters four-lane concrete paved bypass road in Carcar City, Cebu, finishing the project ahead of schedule as part of its effort to improve connectivity in local communities.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cebu 1st District Engineer Jeffrey V. Estrada said that the newly-constructed Carcar City Bypass Road now serves as a reliable alternative route, significantly ensuring traffic in Carcar City’s busy downtown area.

District Engineer Estrada also stated that the new bypass road was constructed to not only reduce traffic congestion but also to provide business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the vicinity.

The 115-meter road project was completed two (2) months ahead of its completion date, and it includes the construction of grouted riprap to support thick embarkments from both sides of the road.

Funded under the FY 2024 DPWH Infrastructure Program, the completion of the P28.5-million road concreting which is the final phase of the 1.8-kilometer opening of Carcar Bypass Road is set to play a crucial role in boosting the socio-economic development of Carcar City.
