Villar Opens Mega Quarantine Facility In Calamba City, Laguna
The biggest “We Heal As One” quarantine facility of Southern Tagalog Region for COVID-19 patients opened in Calamba City, Laguna on Saturday, November 14.
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar led the ceremomial blessing and turnover of Calabarzon Regional Government Center, considered as the mega quarantine facility of Region 4A with 600 bed capacity.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned-over to the Lung Center of the Philippines an additional modular hospital that will be used to augment the existing COVID-19 isolation facilities of the center.
DPWH Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that the newly-completed isolation facility in Quezon City is intended for moderate to severe cases.
“We will continue to push for the completion of more health facilities nationwide although we are seeing a drop in COVID-19 cases recently,” said Secretary Villar.

Two (2) road projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Province of Cagayan are expected to give boost to agri-business and agri-ecotourism industries.
Secretary Mark A. Villar identified these two (2) road projects in the towns of Abulug and Piat, costing P17.5 million in total, funded through DPWH’s Convergence and Special Support Program for fiscal year 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the 24.10-kilometer road project with eight (8) bridge components is now 36.6 percent accomplished.
Even that the rainy season has affected construction activities, we have made significant progress on the project with positive 7.38 slippage, said Secretary Villar.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar advised motorists that the Abusag Overflow Bridge at K543+382, Baybayog- Baggao-Dalin-Sta. Margarita Road in Cagayan and the Cabagan-Isabela Overflow Bridge in Cabagan, Sta. Maria, Isabela are currently flooded and impassable due to overflow of river brought about by Tropical Depression “Tonyo”.
Secretary Villar said that maintenance crew were already deployed along affected sections and warning signs were installed to guide the general public.
