DPWH Delivers 75K Classrooms Nationwide

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of more than 75 thousand classrooms nationwide in the past three (3) years.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that in spite of present restrictions for face to face classes, enrollees both in elementary and secondary as well as the senior high schools students will have better ambiance for studying once physical classes are allowed with comfortable and spacious classrooms built by the government.

More Infra Works Leading to Marawi Underway

More infrastructure projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will bring significant progress in the quality of road network for people of Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.

“The Department has been doubling our efforts to deliver necessary infrastructure projects for the revitalization of Marawi and its surrounding areas from man-made disaster of acts of terrorism in 2017,” said DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar.

Construction of Dike in Magallanes, Agusan Del Norte Continues

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking the construction of a dike that will protect the long stretch of a tertiary road leading to the municipal proper of Magallanes, Agusan Del Norte.

“The construction of flood control infrastructure has always been one of the priority projects greatly considered by the Department especially in areas that are more susceptible to overflowing of river and flooding,” said Secretary Mark Villar.

90-bed Las Piñas Isolation Facility now Open

Public Works and Highways Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar led the inauguration of a newly-completed COVID-19 isolation facility for the people of Las Piñas.

In an event held Monday, November 16, 2020, Secretary Villar together with Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda T. Aguila opened the facility that can accommodate a total of 90 COVID-19 patients.

Built in a vacant lot near Goodyear Building in Barangay Almanza, the offsite isolation facility is made from 26 container vans that were converted into fully-airconditioned hospital rooms with 90-bed capacity.

“Our hardworking quick response teams - unsung heroes for site responsive actions as first road responders during calamities, are encouraged to be more watchful and intensify precautionary measures.”

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar made the statement, following a tragic landslide incident which buried four (4) members of DPWH Ifugao 2nd District Engineering Office Quick Response Team while clearing blocked road in Ifugao Province.
