DPWH R4A conducts free kidney and prostate screening

To celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Regional Office No. IV-A, in partnership with the Philippine Academy of Medical Specialists (PAMS) Foundation, conducted a free kidney and prostrate ultrasound screening on June 4, 2018.

The said free screening and ultrasound process was conducted at the Regional office-Training Room A and was open not only to DPWH employees but also to their family members.

Villar: Boracay Circumferential Road passable by October 2018

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar inspected the rehabilitation works in Boracay to ensure all improvement efforts in the scenic island will be completed in time for its re-opening this October.

Secretary Villar, together with Region 6 Assistant Regional Director Al Fruto and District Engineer Noel Fuentebella checked the progress of the ongoing improvement and rehabilitation of Boracay Circumferential Road which serves as the island’s main road network.

Anti-overloading Policy extended until December 2018

Suspension of enforcement of the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight (GVW) for trucks and trailers with a total of 18 and 22 wheels has been extended by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Transportation (DOTR).

In a joint advisory, the DPWH and DOTR moved its previous deadline to December 31, 2018, giving haulers and truckers another ample time to acquire additional transport equipment to conform with the latest GVW.

JOBS JOBS JOBS: Construction sector posts 4M jobs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported a year-on-year increase of 468,000 jobs generated in the construction sector based on a Labor Force Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority in April 2018.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said, “We are elated with the strong performance of the construction sector. In April 2018, total employment in the sector reached 4.012 million from 3.544 million during the same period in 2017. This is a 13.2-percent increase.”
