Paranaque City – As part of its traffic management scheme for its ongoing roadway enhancements, the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) opened 2 out of the 4 lanes of the Southbound flyover. Motorists immediately felt the convenience of passing through this facility.
Department of Public Works and Highways, Secretary Mark Villar paid a visit to CAVITEX to inspect this development. “The partial opening of the flyover has made a difference in improving the flow of traffic and passage of vehicles in CAVITEX. Motorists will feel the full benefits of its ongoing enhancements once all of the lanes of this facility are opened and all the other enhancements are completed” Sec. Villar added. The southbound fly-over aims to improve traffic management at the intersection of Pacific Drive and CAVITEX, which was managed via a stop and go signaling system before the flyover opened.
“This partial opening will help ease traffic while we continue with the rest of Phase 1 of the construction enhancement works. We expect to complete this Phase 1 by the end of this month or early September. We have positioned Traffic Marshals to guide and direct motorists as they accustom themselves to using this facility. Phase 2, which will involve the widening of the bridges along CAVITEX will commence in September.” Said Luigi L. Bautista, President of Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation, one of the concessions of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation the road infrastructure arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
“To fully experience the travel convenience in CAVITEX, we strongly encourage our motorists to avail of our RFID payment mode. The RFID is more convenient and faster as compared to cash payment, motorists will experience faster travel from the flyover and through the toll plazas.” Added Mr. Bautista.
The second phase of the CAVITEX enhancement works consists of the bridge widening, at the Wawa, Las Pinas area. Total enhancement cost of these two phases is estimated to be at Php 1Billion.
The Cavitex is part of a road network being expanded by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. It will connect to the 7.7KM C5-Southlink which will traverse Taguig, Las Pinas, Paranaque and the 45KM Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAEX) until Mamplasan, Binan, Laguna.
