DPWH eyes completion of 5 infra projects in Leyte by 2019

Five major infrastructure projects in Leyte are expected to be completed and fully operational by 2019 to provide more opportunities for tourism and growth.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), one of these projects is the Mahaplag-Hilongos Road connecting the municipalities of Mahaplag and Hilongos.

A total of P260 million is allocated for the project that started on February 2018 and is expected to be complete by July 2019.

The Heightened Road and Tide Embankment (HRTE) Project is a P7.9-billion infrastructure project of the Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) involving the construction of a four-meter-high seawall structure with concrete pavement, railings, ramps, and street lights.

DPWH re-opens a century old Pandurucan Bridge

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office IV-B opened to the public the newly reconstructed Pandurucan Bridge in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Under the Replacement of Permanent Weak Bridge Program of the DPWH, the ₱1.5-million bridge project is a priority project of the Regional Office along with the Mindoro District Engineering Office as it serves as one of the major road networks for transportation in the municipality of San Jose.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the rehabilitation and strengthening of the southbound portion of Quirino Bridge II in Paco, Manila which was closed for reconstruction in May 2018 to allow the construction of the northbound portion.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, together with DPWH-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) Director Melvin B. Navarro led on Thursday, October 4, 2018 the re-opening to vehicular traffic of the southbound direction of Quirino Bridge 2.

Tacloban City By-Pass Road to open next year

The Tacloban City By-Pass Road in the province of Leyte will be completely passable next year as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continue the construction of the project’s final phases.

The 8.23-kilometer road project, which has been carried out in five phases since 2015, is designed to decongest traffic along Maharlika Highway traversing the cities of Palo and Tacloban.

Construction works for the four-lane road implemented in the first three phases has been completed last year while the fourth and fifth phases are up for completion in August 2019.
