DPWH formulates “The Big One” Preparedness Program

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has developed an Equipment Prepositioning and Mobilization Contingency Plan that will facilitate immediate and effective response in the event that the “The Big One” occurs in Mega Manila.

A “Big One Preparedness Program” of the Department was issued thru a Department Order (DO) by DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar which will now serve as the standard operating procedure of disaster-responding DPWH Regional and District Engineering Offices nationwide.

VILLAR: DPWH turns over 100 percent ROW for NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10

The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is getting close to completion now that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has delivered 100% of the right-of-way (ROW) between Karuhatan, Valenzuela City to C3 Road, Caloocan City.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar made the announcement during the inspection of the newly constructed portion of the project at MacArthur Highway, Karuhatan, Valenzuela City together with Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, other members of the “Build Build Build” team and NLEX Corporation officials led by President Rodrigo Franco.

DPWH prepares roads in Western Visayas for Undas 2018

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region VI is getting ready for the expected volume of traffic along major roads in the region this coming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day break on November 1 and 2, respectively.

According to DPWH 6 Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr., the operation “Lakbay-Alalay” will be reactivated from October 30 to November 2, wherein motorist assistance centers will be installed along national roads near cemeteries.

DPWH completes World Bank-assisted rehab projects along Manila North and South Road

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the maintenance of Manila North Road (MNR) and Manila South Road (MSR) under the 5-year, World Bank-assisted National Roads Improvement and Management Program (NRIMP) Phase II.

Started in September 2013, the 2-part project costing P3.91-billion covers the rehabilitation of 234-kilometer portion of MNR from Monumento, Caloocan City to Agoo/Aringay Boundary, La Union, 157.167-kilometer MSR from Tiaong, Quezon to Sta. Elena, Camarines Sur as well as 50.543-kilometer MSR from Pagsanjan, Laguna to near Lucena City.

DPWH inspects 3 ongoing road projects in Cavite

With the rapid growth of tourism in the province of Cavite, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar visited three (3) ongoing road projects on the said province on September 14, 2018.

Together with DPWH Regional Office IV-A Director Samson L. Hebra, Secretary Villar conducted road inspection in the ongoing construction of 42.75 kilometers East – West Road with a total allotment budget of ₱3.925-Billion. The project is programmed to connect two national roads, namely: Cavite – Batangas Road in the East and Ternate – Nasugbu Road in the west.
