DPWH: 5 roads closed; 3 with limited access as of Monday morning

Motorists are advised that five (5) national road sections remain impassable and three (3) have limited access as of 6:00 am Monday, July 26, 2021 due to Southwest Monsoon.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that most flooded roads in NCR have been cleared but three (3) national road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region, and one (1) each in Region III and Region IV-B are still closed to all types of vehicles.

DPWH Provides Update on Closed Road

Some 51 equipment and 338 maintenance personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways have been deployed to flooded and landslide areas for declogging works and clearing operations.

As of 12 noon Sunday, July 25, 2021, thirteen (13) road sections are closed to traffic due to flooding, soil collapsed at bridge approach, soil and rock collapse, major slide, collapsed solid wheelguard, and washed-out box culvert.

Pampanga River Cut-Off Channel Mitigates Flooding in Candaba

The construction of a cut-off channel by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has mitigated the perennial challenge of flooding experienced during heavy rainfall by the people of Candaba, Pampanga.

Secretary Mark A. Villar citing a report from Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, in-charge of the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations, said that the Candaba Cut-Off Channel with slope protection works on both banks will lessen the severity of flooding brought by overflow or swelling of Pampanga River.

Additional road closure was recorded in roads of Luzon due incessant rains spawned by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

As of 6:00 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2021, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that all lanes of Baguio-Bontoc Road at K0362+600, Busa Bridge in Sabangan, Mt. Province; Abra - Kalinga Road, K0489+900 in Gacab, Malibcong, Abra; Mindoro West Coastal Road, Pag-asa Section in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro; and Manila Cavite Road K0015+(-207) - K0020+000.
