DPWH Dispatch Maintenance Teams as Heavy Rains Trigger Closure of 2 Road Sections in Luzon

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH disaster risk reduction management teams have been activated in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain brought by southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

Maintenance crew and equipment were deployed to conduct immediate clearing operation on national roads affected by intense rain, added Secretary Villar.

As of 8:00 PM Thursday, July 22, 2021, DPWH-Bureau of Maintenance has reported a total of two (2) national road closures due to the weather disturbance.

As of 8:00 PM Thursday, July 22, 2021, DPWH-Bureau of Maintenance has reported a total of two (2) national road closures due to the weather disturbance.

DPWH: 2 roads in CAR still impassable due to monsoon rains

As of 6:00 am Friday, July 23, 2021, one (1) national road section in Benguet and one (1) in Abra remain closed to traffic due to Southwest Monsoon rains causing soil and rock collapse.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar identified affected section in Benguet as a portion of Marcos Highway at K0272+950 - K0272+980 in Taloy Sur, Tuba town which is impassable due to soil collapse. A DPWH Quick Response Team (QRT) have been dispatched in the area and clearing operation is ongoing.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH South Manila District Engineer Mikunug D. Macud said that a maintenance team was deployed to remove garbage from the inlets along portions of Taft Avenue, Remedios Street, and General Malvar Street.
