
As of 12 noon Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Typhoon ‘Enteng’ and Southwest Monsoon have caused an estimated P139.56 million worth of damage to national roads, bridges, and flood control structures in five (5) affected regions of Luzon and Visayas.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, said that the partial cost of damage to infrastructure is broken down into P84.39 million damage to roads, P12.420 million on bridges, and P42.75 million on flood control structures.
By region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) reported P49.43 million of damage to infrastructure, Region 2 with P9.85 million, Region 5 with P34.85 million, Region 6 with P25.78 million, and Region 8 with P23.65 million.
The DPWH Disaster and Incident Management Teams have reported reopening of all 11 road sections that were affected by Enteng. However, four (4) roads in CAR and Region 3 still have limited access including:
1) Itogon-Dalupirip Road, Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet, one-lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse;
2) Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet, one lane passable to heavy vehicles only due to rock/slope collapse;
3) Dantay-Sagada Road,Barangay Antadao, Sagada, Mt. Province, passable to light vehicles only due to road slip; and
4) Manila North Road, Calvario, Marilao, Bulacan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding.
