World Bank Country Director Visits DPWH Chief, Looks Forward to Work Closely for New Projects

The partnership between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and World Bank (WB) continues to grow strength as top leaders of the two (2) organization talks anew on several proposed infrastructure projects.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the World Bank Group has expressed their openness to offer financial assistance to support new initiatives of the Department geared towards the upgrading of roads, improvement of school facilities and water resources, and strengthening of resilience against climate change and natural disasters.

National Road Widened to Enhance Mobility in Capiz Towns

Access and mobility in the towns of Pontevedra, Maayon, and Panitan in the province of Capiz is now safer and faster with the completion of the Maayon Junction Bailan Road Widening Project undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The newly-widened 1.3-kilometer national road is now able to accommodate more vehicles, increasing the capacity of the area’s traffic corridor.

With more road space to travel on, the three (3) towns are expected to see an increase in economic activities in the area.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently-turned over to the city government of Digos, Davao del Sur, the newly-completed Mt. Apo Agri-Eco Tourism Park which is expected to bring more tourists in the province.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Davao del Sur District Engineering Office reported the completion of the entire P116.90-million development project in Barangay Kapatagan, surrounding Lake Cometa and overlooking Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines.

DPWH Kicks Off Construction of Flood Control Structure in Dingalan, Aurora

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is building a flood control structure inside the Dingalan Feeder Port in Barangay Paltic in Dingalan, Aurora.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO) is overseeing the construction of the P47.53-million project for optimal protection against coastal flooding.

The 355-linear meter flood control structure is going to replace old gabion retaining walls inside the port that have been damaged by strong storms resulting to deterioration over the years.
