The Department of Public Works and Highways has upgraded unpaved roads into concrete cement pavements, greatly enhancing mobility and connectivity, which in turn has boosted economic productivity in Narra and Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

In Barangay Antipuluan, Narra the DPWH Palawan 2nd District Engineering Office has completed a 285-linear meter road concreting project, which involves the construction of a portland concrete cement pavement, installed with drainage and miscellaneous structures designed to withstand severe weather conditions.

In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan said that the newly-paved road costing P4.94 Million now provides a substantial transportation infrastructure in Narra, ensuring safety and security for residents and motorists traversing the roadway from the threat of vehicular accidents due to muddy terrain, particularly during monsoon season.

Additionally, a 2-lane 315-meter road pavement was constructed in Barangay Sta. Monica now serves as a vital road network, improving accessibility and connectivity to its neighboring communities, thus augmenting economic activities in Puerto Princesa City.

Implemented by DPWH Palawan 3rd District Engineering Office, the project amounting to P4.90 Million also covers the construction of portland concrete cement pavement, installed with shoulders on both sides, as well as reinforcing steel and structural concrete, fortifying the resiliency and durability of the all-weather road.

“Through the completion of these projects, residents and motorists in Narra and Puerto Princesa are better protected from the danger and inconveniences of dirt roads that they have endured for many years. They can now expect significant improvement in their everyday activities,” said Director Pacanan.
