DPWH takes part in world TB Day 2019

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region VI joined the celebration of 2019 World Tuberculosis (TB) Day fun run activity led by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 6 in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and Iloilo City Health Office on March 24, 2019.

Said fun run was also a fund raising activity for the benefit of Philippine Tuberculosis Society Iloilo Chapter, Inc. and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in the war of the 37 jails in Western Visayas.

P75.0 million poured to complete shore protection in southern Iloilo

An amount of P75.0 million was allocated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Iloilo 1st District Engineering Office, funded under its CY 2019 budget, to complete the construction of the shore protection in Guimbal town, in the southern part of Iloilo.

District Engineer Nonie A. Viyar said the shore protection project, constructed along the coasts of Gerona-Gimeno, Generosa-Colon and Rizal-Tuguisan, is expected to be completed this year.

Stakeholders Meeting conducted by the consultant for the Jalaur River Basin Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 and the Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Flood Control Management Cluster (FCMC) facilitated the conduct of a Key Stakeholders Meeting with the consultants of an international joint venture of EGIS (France), INCLAM (Spain) and KECC (South Korea) to kick off the preparation for the Flood Risk Management Master Plan (FRMMP) and Feasibility Studies of the Jalaur River Basin.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Friday, March 29, 2019 inaugurated two (2) road widening projects in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar led the ceremonial inauguration of the newly-rehabilitated and widened 1-kilometer section of Samar Street as well as the 229-linear meter 11th Jamboree Street.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) inaugurated on Friday, March 29, 2019 a 435-linear meter concrete roadway inside Camp Aguinaldo and named the new road after the first fallen soldier in Marawi City.

“This new road we are opening was named JC Morales Avenue to honor First Lieutenant John Carl Morales who died during a military operation against ISIS-inspired local terrorists group in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on the 23rd of May, 2017,” said Secretary Mark Villar, who led the inauguration ceremony together with Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
