DPWH Supports the 14th Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) hosted a meeting to map out activities for the observance of this year’s Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection (CPAP) Week on Sept. 16 to 22.

The meeting which was held on Sept. 5, 2017 at the DPWH Head Office, Port Area, Manila, was attended by the National Working Committee on CPAP Week composed of members from various sectors as well as participating DPWH employees.

DPWH to fast track site development of transitory shelters for Marawi evacuees

After inspecting evacuation centers for Marawi evacuees, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now working on timely completion of site development works where the first batch of transitory houses for Marawi siege evacuees will be built.

“The area being developed by DPWH in Barangay Sagongsongan, Marawi City, can accommodate 1,100 families,” Secretary Mark Villar noted.

“Currently, we are preparing a portion of the site where the National Housing Authority (NHA) can build a total of 275 transitory houses,” said Secretary Villar.

DPWH fast tracks 6 Major Flood Control Projects along S. Leyte's largest river

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently kicked off a P240-million flood control system which is seen to alleviate the problem of overflowing and erosions along Subang Daku River in Southern Leyte.

DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar Tabacon said that the project development along the largest watercourse in the province which cuts through the town of Sogod includes six (6) flood control structures costing above P40 million each in the river sections of Hibod-Hibod, Kanangkaan, San Juan, San Vicente, Suba, and Zone 3.

DPWH to complete widening of 2 Leyte Bridges in Q4

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon be completing the widening of two (2) major bridges along the busy Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road in the province of Leyte.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon said that the improvement of Pinamitinan Bridge in Capoocan town and Jugaban Bridge in Carigara town will enhance the transport of goods and services that will have significant impact to the economic activities in these areas.

DPWH repairs 11 roads in QC, Pasig, Caloocan

Eleven road sections in Metro Manila will undergo replacement of damaged concrete pavement to improve surface quality and increase the efficiency of road transportation.

Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Melvin B. Navarro said that motorists are advised to avoid some areas in Quezon City, Pasig City, and Caloocan City and use alternate routes because of scheduled reblocking and repairs starting 11 in the evening of Friday, September 1, 2017.
