We are One for Marawi - DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways, together with its District Engineering Offices, teamed up with other line agencies in pursuit of available resources that would aid in providing the needs of the evacuees of the Marawi crisis.

Evacuation centers in the municipalities of Pantar, Balo-i, and Brgy. Sta. Elena, Iligan City were inspected where the concerns of the evacuees and the necessities of the area were catered and considered for immediate action.

DPWH Builds 3 School Buildings in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan

A total of three (3) two-storey school buildings have been turned over to students of Sanchez Mira School of Arts and Trades (SMSAT) in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said the project was implemented by the DPWH Cagayan Second District Engineering Office to accommodate the influx of students at SMSAT.

P102- Million Flood-Control Project Completed for low-lying Barangays in Nueva Vizcaya

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed gabion retaining walls to prevent flooding in low-lying areas of Nueva Vizcaya.

DPWH Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said P102 was spent to build the walls located in the barangays of Banganan and Calitlitan in the municipality of Aritao; Barangay Lamo in the municipality of Dupax del Norte; and in Barangay Gabut in the municipality of Dupax del Sur.

According Director Briosos, mentioned barangays are located in low-lying areas and are vulnerable to flooding during rainy season.

DPWH Paves P2-M Road for Cagayan Farmers

Farmers who are resident of Barangay Lapi, Peñablanca, Cagayan will no longer have to bear with a bumpy gravel road just to transport their crops to the main markets.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the concreting of a 300-meter farm-to-market road that is expected to benefit more than a hundred farmers who own at least 40 hectares of corn and rice fields in the said barangay.

An allocation of P2 million was spent to pave the road which was funded under the convergence program of the DPWH and Department of Agriculture.

DPWH Region I hosts Sewerage and Septage Management Workshop to protect the country’s water resources

The Department of Public Works and Highways, Regional Office I hosted the National Sewerage and Septage Management Program (NSSMP) Promotional Campaign and Training Workshop last July 25-27, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, DPWH RO I, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Aimed to protect the country’s bodies of water from land-based waste, the seminar was attended by 49 participants who came from the Technical Offices of the DPWH Regional Office and District Engineering Offices (DEOs), Local Government Units (LGUs) and Water Districts (WDs) from the nine (9) cities of Region I.

Transitional Shelters to Rise for IDPs

Representing Secretary Mark A. Villar, Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, together with Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Operations Dimas S. Soguilon visited on August 2, 2017 the 11-hectare site for Transitional Shelter, located at Sagunsungan, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, with the completed Model Row House (3 units) built by DPWH with steel framing from Department of National Defense (DND) and energized by Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LASURECO).

Anti-Overloading Policy moratorium extended until December 31

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) have extended anew the suspension of enforcement of the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight (GVW) for trucks and trailers.

In a joint advisory, DPWH and DOTR moved its previous deadline from June 30, 2017 to December 31, 2017, as a response to requests from the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines to give them more time in acquiring additional transport equipment.

DPWH Completes Repair of Road Leading to Libingan ng mga Bayani

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P42 million road improvement project at MRT Avenue also known as Bayani Avenue in Taguig City.

DPWH NCR Director Melvin B. Navarro said the 1.2-kilometer section of Bayani Avenue which serves as an access road to Libingan ng mga Bayani has been repaired to benefit motorists especially the visiting families of fallen heroes.
