Villar: Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge to start construction next week

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will start its construction by next week.

The two China Grant-Aid Bridges are financed by the People’s Republic of China through a bilateral cooperation with the Republic of the Philippines.

“The implementation of these bridges is scheduled to begin next week and will be accessible to the public by 2020,” Villar said.

DPWH wins street dance competition in Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) aced the street dance competition held during the Barotac Viejo Patronal Town Fiesta celebration in Iloilo.

Under the leadership of OIC-District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez and OIC-Assistant District Engineer Renato H. Cogollo, the employees graced the opening parade of the town fiesta wearing their orange maintenance uniform.

They entertained the crowds and the motorists with their graceful choreography notwithstanding the scorching heat of the sun.

DPWH Starts Construction of First Evacuation Complex in Cagayan Valley

Construction works for the first evacuation complex in Cagayan Valley began with a ceremonial groundbreaking held on July 12, 2017.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos led the groundbreaking ceremony of the evacuation complex located at Brgy. San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City, along with Cagayan Governor Manuel N. Mamba, Cagayan Provincial Office officials, representatives from Department of Social Welfare and Development and Office of the Civil Defense.

Improvement of Road Signs to Maasin Airport Underway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Southern Leyte Engineering District is working on the enhancement of road signs and markings leading to Maasin Airport in preparation for the airline’s first commercial operation on August 1.

The District Office kicked off the improvement works this week following a meeting with Air Juan Aviation, Inc. executives, local government officials, Department of Tourism (DOT), dive shop operators, and other stakeholders.

DPWH clearing landslide along Calbayog-Allen Road

The Department of Public Works (DPWH) is set to re-open this week the landslide-stricken Calbayog-Allen Road in Barangay Caglanipao Sur, Tinambacan District, Calbayog City, Samar.

District Engineer Alvin A. Ignacio of DPWH Samar First District Engineering Office said the road which was closed since Sunday, July 23, 2017 due to continuous heavy rains, is currently one-lane passable while the other lane of the road is still covered with debris of dirt and the mountainous side is still unstable.
