DPWH holds groundbreaking for two (2) China grant-aid bridges project

President Rodrigo R. Duterte, together with Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Philippines Zhao Jianhua, and Manila City Mayor Joseph Marcelo E. Estrada, conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of the two (2) China Grant-Aid Bridges Project, Binondo-Intramuros Bridge and Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge.

Phase III of Pasig Marikina River Channel Improvement completed

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, together with Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda, inspected the on-going improvement project of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel.

The Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project (PMRCIP) will mitigate the frequent inundation or massive flooding caused by the overflowing of Pasig-Marikina River resulting in severe damages to lives, properties and infrastructure in Metro Manila.

₱438M by-pass roads underway in northern Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently implementing the construction of three by-pass roads in Passi City and the towns of Zarraga and Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo amounting to ₱438.881 million.

According to Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr., the construction of ₱229.183-million Passi By-Pass Road is implemented in two phases: Phase 1 involves the construction of 6 spans, 30-mm Pre-Stressed Concrete Type IV-B Girder Bridge on Bored Pile Foundation including approaches and slope protection amounting to ₱125.584 million.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) commenced the second phase of the protection works against rockslides in San Ricardo, Southern Leyte.

Villar: Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge to start construction next week

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will start its construction by next week.

The two China Grant-Aid Bridges are financed by the People’s Republic of China through a bilateral cooperation with the Republic of the Philippines.

“The implementation of these bridges is scheduled to begin next week and will be accessible to the public by 2020,” Villar said.
