DPWH Shares Spirit of Giving Nationwide

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shares the spirit of 2014 Christmas Season with a “Pamaskong Handog” gift-giving activity nationwide.

DPWH Undersecretary Jaime A. Pacanan together with Assistant Secretary Ardeliza R. Medenilla and the Directors and employees under the Support Services Group heeded the call of Secretary Rogelio L. Singson to conduct Community Extension Program for more meaningful Christmas celebration which started with the distribution of packed goods among 100 chosen families living in Barangay 651 Zone 68 Port Area, Manila.

TUPAD Program (DOLE-DPWH)

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Laguna 1st District Engineering Office, Sta. Cruz, Laguna conducted recently an Orientation for the 576 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disavantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) Workers program of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) .

Beneficiaries that attended the orientation were from 38 barangays from the towns of Sta. Cruz, Pagsanjan and Lumban, Laguna.

Do Not Intervene in Project Biddings - DPWH

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson appealed to politicians and other influential personalities not to meddle or intervene in the on-going procurement activities for DPWH infrastructure projects for CY 2015.

Singson said that competitive and transparent biddings of about 9,278 projects valued at P269.7 Billion under the CY 2015 Infrastructure Program are on-going nationwide. We want to be able to award most of these contracts by 1st Quarter of 2015.

Secure Overhead Cranes, Building Contractors Told - DPWH

Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson has urged private building contractors to secure their overhead cranes installed on top of buildings undergoing construction particularly those within the path of Typhoon Ruby.

With reports of PAGASA that typhoon Ruby is categorized as super typhoon, Singson made this call to avert untoward incident to happen.

“Strong winds may topple these overhead cranes if not properly secured,” said Singson.

DPWH Alerts Building Contractors Ahead of Typhoon Ruby

In preparation for the onslaught of Typhoon Ruby, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson is urging all building contractors handling projects within typhoon’s path to observe safety measures.

Singson urges contractors to comply with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Department Order No. 13, Series of 1998 or the “Guidelines Governing Occupational Safety and Health in the Construction Industry” to ensure the protection and welfare of workers and the general public around the immediate vicinity of any construction worksite.

DPWH in Need of Young Breed of Engineers

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is in need of 40 young civil engineers to become part of the second batch of its Cadet Engineering Program.

Cadet Engineering Program, an innovative program introduced at DPWH by Secretary Rogelio L. Singson in 2013 is part of the Department’s investment in human resources development to set new entry standards for civil engineers in the bureaucracy.
