DPWH fast-tracks paving of 21.805-km road in Negros Occidental

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI is hastening the concreting of the 21.805-kilometer gravel road along Junction D.S. Benedicto-Spur 16-Calatrava Road in Negros Occidental.

According to District Engineer Jaime SJ Javellana of DPWH Negros Occidental First District Engineering Office, the road project costing P829.701 million, was implemented by the then Negros Island Region (NIR) and was taken over by Region VI after the abolition of NIR.

DPWH RO9 reactivates “Lakbay Alalay” program

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 9 Director Jorge U. Sebastian, Jr. has deployed personnel to man the Motorists Assistance Center regionwide for the Lenten Season.

The thirteen (13) support centers, comprised of engineers, mechanics, equipment operators and other service crews from the District Offices, will be operational from 12 noon of March 28, 2018 to 12 noon of April 2, 2018.

Portion of Daang Maharlika in Sogod, Southern Leyte still closed amid landslide threat

The 200-meter section of Daang Maharlika in Barangay Pancho Villa, Sogod, Southern Leyte remains closed due to threat of recurring landslide in the area.

Margarita Junia of Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DEO) said initial findings from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) confirmed the presence of active ground movements along the road stretch hence the continued closure of the road.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to commence this year the construction of a new bridge that will replace the typhoon-damaged Caray-Caray Bridge in the province of Biliran.

DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon said DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar ordered the immediate implementation of the project which is now under planning stage.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing projects which include the construction of an access road leading to Caticlan Airport and the rehabilitation of Boracay Circumferential Road.
