DPWH begins construction of DTI Building in Legazpi City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) commenced construction works for the 40.24 million three-storey building of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) located at the Regional Government Center in Rawis, Legazpi City.

The 3,020 square meter building is anticipated to aid DTI Region 5 in providing its constituents more income opportunities that will fulfill their goal in fostering a globally competitive and innovative economic industry.

More tourists are expected to visit the famous Kabigan Falls in Barangay Balaoi with the improvement of the tourism road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

Citing a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the construction of the 900-meter road is seen to provide better access for tourists who previously had to walk from the highway to the tourism destination.

DPWH mobilizes inspection of SEA games venues

In preparation for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held this November 30 to December 11, 2019, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar has directed offices on the inspection and maintenance of roads and structural assessment of venues that will be used during the multi-sport event.

“Along with the festivities and excitement brought by the forthcoming games, vigilance and safety of the participants and audience must always be of highest importance to avoid undesired incidents,” Secretary Villar added.

DPWH northern Iloilo adopts Active Slope Protection System

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Third District Office has recently adopted the use of an eco-friendly and convenient slope protection technique, Active Protection System (APS), for its projects to improve soil and rock stability from erosion at Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road in northern Iloilo.

The 40 million peso project in Barotac Viejo Section cuts the massive excavation process and retains the slope’s natural ground through hydroseeding, uses a high tensile wire mesh to keep rock masses in place and prevent debris from falling.

DPWH improves road leading to famous falls in Sison, Pangasinan

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the improvement of the access road leading to Antong Falls in Barangay Labayug in the Municipality of Sison, Pangasinan is now at more than 60 percent complete.

Citing a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, Secretary Villar said that the construction of the Labayug-Inmalog Road is being fast tracked for completion by this November to promote the emerging tourist destination.
