DPWH paves road to tourist spot in Santiago City, Isabela

More tourists can soon explore the wonders of Dariuk Hills in Barangay Balintocatoc, Santiago City, Isabela, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) nearly completes the construction of 970 meter access road leading to the tourist destination.

Set to complete this October with an accomplishment rate of 75.23%, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the construction of the access road is projected to fuel the increase of tourists in Santiago City, which will also pave way to the growth of its economy.

DPWH breaks ground for UP Diliman Resilience Institute Building

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar and University of the Philippines (UP) officials led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) building at the UP Diliman Campus on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

As the center for research on climate change and disaster risk reduction and management, the construction of the ten (10) storey building is expected to steer further studies on how to address the issues.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar and University of the Philippines (UP) officials led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) building at the UP Diliman Campus on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

New PNU building breaks ground

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced construction of the new Teachers Education Heritage Campus Laboratory of the Philippine Normal University (PNU) in Taft Avenue, Manila City.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, a ground-breaking ceremony headed by DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) Assistant Director Judy B. Cordon and officials of PNU was held for the construction of the new building that will provide additional classrooms and facilities for students and teachers of the state university.

Expansion of Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in full swing

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that construction of the new four (4) storey medical building by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center is in full blast and will soon be serviceable to the public.

Based on an updated report from DPWH Region 11 Director Allan S. Borromeo, Secretary Villar said that the DPWH Davao Oriental Second District Engineering Office (DEO) is fast tracking the completion of the additional facility in the hospital compound.

Motorists in Ilagan City, Isabela can soon traverse the stronger and more durable Sta. Isabel Bridge along Ilagan-Delfin Albano-Mallig Road, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) enters final finishing works of the bridge undergoing rehabilitation.

The 23 million retrofitting project, which involves the use of carbon sheet and carbon plates in strengthening the 115 linear meter bridge, is expected to prevent the occurrence of road accidents in the area.
