On-Going Bypass Road Project to Decongest Sariaya Main Road

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on a road that would route traffic away from the narrow and crowded Daang Maharlika or Manila South Road in the proper town of Sariaya, Quezon Province.

“Motorists going in and out of Southern Luzon and Bicol Region will have an alternative road by 2017 as our workers are already laying the 7-kilometer Sariaya Bypass Road which will handle traffic plying between Sariaya and Lucena City, effectively easing traffic congestion along Daang Maharlika,” said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.

Motorists are advised to avoid Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) South bound direction between Estrella Street to Buendia Avenue, Makati City due to asphalt overlaying activities of DPWH Metro Manila Second District Engineering Office on October 9, 2015 (Friday) to October 12, 2015 (Monday). Works will be done only between 11 PM of the particular day and ends at 5 AM of the next day. Please take other alternative route.

Ayala Bridge Closed on Four (4) Weekends of October

Vehicular traffic will not be allowed at Ayala Bridge in Manila in the next four (4) weekends of October 2015.

The Department of Public Works and Highways disclosed that post-tensioning and dampers installation works will require full closure of Ayala Bridge every Fridays at 10 PM through Mondays at 5 AM specifically between October 9 to 12, October 16 to 19, October 23 to 26, and October 30 to November 2.

Improved Roads Going to Batangas City

DPWH Region IV-A has completed a road linking tourism destinations in different towns of Cavite province.

Completed was the 4,636.60 lineal meter improvement/widening of Tagaytay City to Batangas City via Tuy Road costing P82.4 Million was funded under the FY 2014 APEC and is expected to reduce travel time due.

The project was also implemented inasmuch as Tagaytay City and other tourist destinations near Metro Manila are included in the itineraries of the delegates to the APEC Summit 2015.

Naguilian-Baguio Road Closed to Traffic Due to Bridge Works

Bauang-Baguio City Road is temporarily closed to vehicular traffic due to the repair of Ribsuan Bridge connecting Naguilian and Burgos towns of La Union.

Department of Public Works and Highways ordered the temporary closure of the bridge to give way for the setting/curing of newly poured concrete as part of the repair works undertaken and is expected to re-open to light vehicles on September 30, 2015.

The 59 lineal meter bridge is one of the oldest permanent steel bridges along the 46 kilometers Bauang-Baguio City Road also known as Naguilian Road or Quirino Highway.

Contractors With No Testing Equipment Banned to Join Bidding

Contractors must have their own required minimum materials testing equipment to qualify in the bidding of public works projects.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that the requirement to ensure the incorporation of the right quality of materials in civil works project issued 25 years ago is more than enough time for contractors to procure contractors’ testing equipment.

DPWH Volunteers Join Coastal Cleanup

Armed with gloves and disposal bags, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson led the 245 other volunteers from the DPWH Head Office and National Capital Region that took part in collecting voluminous disposed garbage along the Manila Bay shoreline. The DPWH is among the national agencies actively supporting the annual pro-environment activity International Coastal Cleanup Day.
