Tourism boost expected with better roads in Samar, Leyte

Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar anticipates more tourists will visit Eastern Visayas with the completion of roads leading to tourism sites in Samar and Leyte.

The statement followed after DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno reported that they have completed the construction of the 1.7-kilometer access road leading to Calabato Hot Spring in the municipality of La Paz, Leyte.

DPWH improves road networks in Zamboanga

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the Sindangan- Bayog-Lakewood Road linking Zamboanga del Sur to Zamboanga del Norte is now almost complete as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has substantially completed 36-kilometers of the road network.

Secretary Villar said that DPWH Region 9, under the leadership of Regional Director Cayamombao Dia, is currently completing the additional 15-kilometer portion of the road traversing multiple municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte.

DPWH weekend repair of 4 roads in Quezon City

Weekend repair works of the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH – NCR) will resume covering four (4) major roads of Quezon City beginning 11 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018.

With the clearance from Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), DPWH – NCR road rehabilitation will cover the areas at Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) southbound direction from in front of Francesca Tower to after Scout Borromeo, 3rd lane from the center island; and at the northbound direction from Vertis North to Trinoma Mall, 2nd lane from the sidewalk.

12 flood control projects in Leyte to be finished within 2018

A total of 12 flood mitigation structure projects that will protect residents at flood-prone areas in the municipalities of Albuera, Isabel, Palompon and the city of Ormoc, Leyte are now on its final completion stage.

In his report, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez said that a total amount of P379-million are being implemented under budget allocation from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2018 for 17 flood control projects, five (5) of which have already been completed.
