12 flood control projects in Leyte to be finished within 2018

A total of 12 flood mitigation structure projects that will protect residents at flood-prone areas in the municipalities of Albuera, Isabel, Palompon and the city of Ormoc, Leyte are now on its final completion stage.

In his report, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez said that a total amount of P379-million are being implemented under budget allocation from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2018 for 17 flood control projects, five (5) of which have already been completed.

27 road sections in Luzon closed due to triple storms Henry, Josie, Inday

As of 12 noon, Monday, July 23, 2018, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported a total of 27 road sections that are closed to traffic due to flooding, landslide, soil collapse, and road slip.

Report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance identified seven (7) impassable road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), ten (10) in Region I, eight (8) in Region III, and two (2) in Region IV-A.

DPWH: Skyway users from South may now exit up to Java Street, Makati City

In an effort to help alleviate traffic in Metro Manila, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Friday, July 20, 2018 opened the 3-lane, northbound direction of Skyway Stage 3 from Buendia Avenue up to near Java Street in Makati, City.

DPWH Secretary Villar said instead of using Buendia as an off ramp, motorists may now exit a kilometer further along South Super Highway through a temporary ramp constructed near Java Street.

New diversion road in Ormoc City underway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the construction of the 4-lane Ormoc City Diversion Road which traverses the barangays of San Juan, Lao, and Naungan in Ormoc City, Leyte.

According to DPWH Leyte 4th District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez, a total of P300-million is allocated for the construction of the 5.28-kilometer diversion road that will reduce traffic congestion along the Merida-Isabel-Palompon Route.

P1 Billion allotted to strengthen 36 bridges in Metro Manila

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement a total of P1.076 Billion worth of projects to retrofit, rehabilitate, and replace weak and old bridges in Metro Manila.

DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin Navarro said 36 bridges in 10 cities of Metro Manila will be strengthened to conform to the standard design under DPWH design/seismic guidelines, criteria and specifications in an effort to make vital bridges resilient in the event of large magnitude earthquakes.

Advisory: Temporary closure of Garrita Bridge in Bani, Pangasinan

The traveling public is advised that as of 12:00 noon Thursday, July 19, 2018, Garrita Bridge along Alaminos-Bolinao Road in Barangay Garrita, Bani, Pangasinan is temporary closed due to damage brought by the southwest monsoon rain.

Warning signs were already installed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for public safety while repair of damaged embankment approach of bridge detour is ongoing.

The P161 million bridge project that is being constructed to link the municipalities of Maasin and Alimodian, Iloilo is now substantially completed.

In his report, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. said that the 191.8-linear meter Aganan Bridge Project which is being implemented along Mandurriao-San Miguel-Alimodian-Maasin-Cabatuan Road in Alimodian, Iloilo is almost complete with some remaining works in slope protection and bridge approaches.
