Villar creates DPWH Earthquake Resiliency Office

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is at full throttle to ensure the earthquake resilience of the country’s infrastructure with the creation of its Earthquake Resiliency Program Management Office (ER-PMO).

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 52 series 2018 entitled "Creating the Program Management Office for Earthquake Resiliency of the Greater Metro Manila", DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar formed the DPWH ER-PMO through a Department Order 75 dated July 10, 2019 that will serve as an integrated department approach in addressing earthquake resiliency problems.

New farm to market road aids far-flung community in Occidental Mindoro

Farmers of Sitio Banakan, Barangay Tangkalan are now able to transport their products faster with the completion of the farm to market road (FMR) project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar commended DPWH Region 4B Director Wilfredo S. Mallari for completing the 750-meter road project on-time, greatly improving the access of residents to social services and other facilities.

3 evacuation centers completed in Soccsksargen; 5 underway

The Department of Public Works Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of hazard‐adaptive and needs‐sensitive evacuation centers in the three (3) provinces of Region 12.

DPWH Regional Director Basir M. Ibrahim reported to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar that the new evacuation centers were recently built in Barangay Bunao, Tupi, South Cotabato; Barangay Buayan, General Santos City; and Barangay Rosal Street, Carmen, North Cotabato.

More than 88,000-cubic meter silt removed along Nueva Ecija’s Digmala River

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has dredged 88,840 cubic meters of silt along Digmala River in Bongabon town, Nueva Ecija Province.

In an update to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, District Engineer Ricardo M. Puno of DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO) reported that a yearlong desilting operation in partnership with the DPWH Bureau of Equipment has cleared Digmala River, which used to be heavily silted due to soil erosion from the denuded portions of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.
