The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the improvement of loading and unloading bays along the Old Zigzag Road. The off–street parking areas or bays are meant for travelers to temporarily park their vehicles and enjoy the view of Pagbilao.

According to OIC-District Engineer Rody A. Angulo , the P15.275 million project under T.A.D. Construction was carried out to improve not only traffic flows but also the travel experience of motorists and local tourists as they journey hours from Manila to Bicol or Visayas and vice versa.

The Rehabilitation and Retrofitting Project of Calumpang Bridge under DPWH Region IV-A is now undergoing repair after a Notice to Proceed has been issued by the Regional Office last January 28, 2015.

This 22-year old bridge was destroyed by Typhonn Glenda in July 2014. The destruction caused traffic congestion along alternate routes in the city. A month after the destruction, the provincial government had set priorities to rebuild the said bridge.

The Phase 2 of the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) with the allocation of P200.0 Million is finally underway after being stalled by a series of failed biddings. The Phase 2 primarily involves finishing works related to power, water and glass fixtures, and the installation of two escalators and three elevators.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the amount will be used to fund a total of 66 infrastructure projects in the City, to be implemented by the DPWH Regional Office, and two (2) District Engineering Offices (DEOs) based in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 recently held a workshop on Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) which provides the guidelines in the establishment and implementation of a performance-based incentive system for government employees.

With the purpose of linking individual performance with the DPWH mission, vision and strategic goals, SPMS was established by DPWH under Department Order No. 32, Series of 2014, pursuant to the provisions of Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 6, s 2012.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson administers the oath of office to Undersecretary Ardeliza R. Medenilla. Prior to her promotion to the position of Undersecretary, she held the position of Assistant Secretary for Support Services who has overall supervision and control over the Human Resource and Administrative Service, Financial Management Service, Information Management Service, Legal Service, Procurement Service, and the Stakeholders Relations Service of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Three (3) additional infrastructure projects have been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Region 10 for Cagayan de Oro City costing P111 Million.

Barroso cited the inauguration of recently completed flood control project (flood wall) along CDO River, Cathedral Section; access road leading to famous Dao Heritage Tree and Mapawa Nature Park; and road concreting and drainage project at Berjaya Resettlement Area.

Evaluation process is on-going in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to determine the performance of accredited field engineers assigned to supervise government infrastructure projects specifically DPWH projects.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson tasked the Accreditation Committee for Field Engineers headed by Assistant Secretary Gilberto S. Reyes to assess all DPWH field engineers and determine those who are capable or in need of improvement in their technical knowledge.
