DPWH VI Gears Up for ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Assistant Regional Director and Officer-In-Charge Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. led the unveiling of marker during the launching of “Journey to ISO 9001:2008 Certification” of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Regional Office VI.

The launched was organized by the core team headed by Engr. Jose Al V. Fruto, who has been attending various trainings and workshops on ISO certification.

DPWH Regional Office V Prepares For "ISO 9001:2008" Accreditation

Key staff of the DPWH Regional Office in the Bicol Region underwent an orientation on the implementation of the DPWH Quality Management System for the eventual ISO 9001:2008 certification of their office.

In 2015, 17 DPWH Offices, including the NCR and Regional Office XI, were certified under ISO 9001:2008. For 2016, 15 remaining DPWH Regional Offices plus 1 pilot District Engineering Office, and the 5 Unified Project Management Offices are set to be subjected to third party audit for eventual ISO 9001:2008 accreditation.

DPWH Clears Southern Leyte Highway from Rockslides

Maintenance workers of Department of Public Works and Highways-Southern Leyte District Engineering Office cleared three road sections from minor rockslides on January 27, 2016 after days of heavy downpour in the province this week.

In a report from DPWH-SLDEO District Engineer Ma. Margarita C. Junia. flow of traffic was not interrupted by rockslides since debris only blocked half of the road and the maintenance team immediately cleared the road from debris with the prepositioning of heavy equipments in strategic areas.

DPWH Approves New Cavite Sub-District

The Department of Public Works and Highways approves the creation of the Cavite Sub-District Engineering Office (CSDEO) in Carmona, Cavite.

CSDEO covers in its jurisdiction the legislative districts of Bacoor, Dasmariñas, and collectively -Carmona, Gen. Mariano Alvarez and Silang.

The creation of this new office is meant to further capacitate the District Engineering Offices of the Cavite Province in the implementation of various infrastructure projects and maintenance of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure facilities within the jurisdiction of DPWH Region IV-A.

DPWH Office Aims for ISO Certification

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Unified Project Management Office (DPWH-UPMO) is working on the certification of the Quality Management System of its five (5) specialized clusters against the requirements of ISO: 9001:2008 standards. The grand launching of this latest ISO journey of additional DPWH offices was witnessed by DPWH Undersecretary Raul C. Asis, Overall DPWH Quality Management Representative (QMR); Assistant Secretary B. Elizabeth E. Yap, Deputy QMR; and Assistant Secretary Emil K. Sadain, UPMO Operations QMR.

Better Access, Better Opportunities

The Construction of Hanging Bridge at Sitio Panigan is one of the many Infrastructure Projects implemented by Davao City 2nd District Engineering Office under the CY 2015 Local Infrastructure Program (GAA). Contracted by Five Massive Infra & Supply Corp., the PhP4.8M project started in August 2015 and was completed in December 2015. This hanging bridge has a total length of 110 linear meters.

FMR in Brgy. Sumimao Nears Completion

The Construction of Farm to Market Road at Brgy.Sumimao, Paquibato District to Sitio Kalkal, Inayangan, Calinan District, Davao City is nearing completion.

The Sumimao Farm-to-Market Road, traverses farmlands with high value crops ranging from vegetables, bananas, coffee, cacao, mangoes and various root crops --- the primary sources of live-lihood in the area.

DPWH Allocates P126-M for Flood-Control Projects in Southern Leyte

More than a hundred million pesos worth of flood-control projects will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Southern Leyte.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH Region 8 Director Rolando M. Asis said that the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Fund amounting to P126.6 million will be utilized for the construction and rehabilitation of flood control structures and drainage canals in Southern Leyte, prioritizing those areas previously hit by typhoons and vulnerable to flooding.
