P95-M Flood Control Structure in Albuera, Leyte Nears Completion

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is close to completing a flood control structure that will enhance water flow in the coastal community of Barangay Mahayag, Albuera, Leyte.

Costing ₱95 million from the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project implemented by DPWH Leyte 4th District Engineering Office involves the construction of a 540-lineal meter, 4.48-meter high revetment wall using steel piles, providing a sturdy foundation and preventing soil erosion.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is building a concrete revetment structure that would prevent flooding brought by the overflow of Hijo River in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, said that the flood control project is currently being implemented by the DPWH Davao del Norte District Engineering Office (DEO) along the 840.84-meter section of Hijo River in Barangay Madaum.

According to an update by DPWH Regional Office I Director Ronnel M. Tan to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the slope protection project with a total length of 826 meters was strategically built along the Cabalancian River to improve the community’s safety against flooding due to river overflow.
