DPWH & ADB Strengthen Partnership to Prioritize Key Infra Projects in the Philippines

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is intensifying its efforts to advance the “Build Better More” agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administration to accelerate infrastructure development, with continued support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

During a consultation meeting held on August 15, 2024, at ADB Headquarters in Mandaluyong City, DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain and ADB Country Director Pavit Ramachandran led discussions focused on key infrastructure projects designed to drive the Philippines economic growth and development.

DPWH Strengthens Flood Defense in San Carlos City, Pangasinan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed two (2) slope protection structures along Agno River to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents, livelihood, and properties in Barangay Bogaoan and Barangay Guelew, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

The construction of the 355.47-meter flood control project in Barangay Bogaoan now protects the residents against the destructive impact of heavy rainfall and typhoons that cause flooding in the vicinity.

Upgraded Roads Improve Access Between Negros Island Provinces

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed upgrading works along two (2) major roads in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental that will facilitate better connectivity between the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel reported the completion of a concreting project along a 1.7-kilometer, 2-lane section of Kabankalan-Bayawan Boundary Road in Barangay Bantayan.

Costing ₱95 million from the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project implemented by DPWH Leyte 4th District Engineering Office involves the construction of a 540-lineal meter, 4.48-meter high revetment wall using steel piles, providing a sturdy foundation and preventing soil erosion.
