DPWH Improves Access Road in Ilog, Negros Occidental

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished paving an access road leading to far-flung communities in the municipality of Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Completed in Barangay Balicotoc is a 1.8-kilometer, two (2)-lane portland cement concrete pavement road with grouted riprap for slope protection and 610-millimeter reinforced concrete pile culvert for cross drainage.

According to DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the project now improves access of Purok Taysikan residents to healthcare, education, and other basic government services.

In an effort to improve mobility and better connectivity for local communities of the Cordilleras, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is ramping up the completion of a road rehabilitation and improvement project along the portion of Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur via Kayan Road in Barangay Kayan, Tadian, Mountain Province.

The ongoing road reblocking and asphalt overlay project which aims to boost accessibility and ease travel is 74 percent completed to date.

Low-lying communities near Tinuba River in Zamboanga City are now protected by a new flood mitigation structure completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The 442-lineal meter river control structure now ensures the safety of Barangay Sinubong residents from the dangers of severe water overflow, especially during inclement weather.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 7 Director Danilo J. Villa Jr. said that the additional 1.5-meter road space along the 800-meter mountainous section of San Jose now provides tourists with a convenient and safer route to the peak of the Bandera Hills.
