DPWH Clears Site for Temporary Shelters in Baybay City and Abuyog, Leyte

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed site development activities in Barangay Maganhan, Baybay City, Leyte to serve as location of temporary shelters for Typhoon ‘Agaton’ victims in Eastern Visayas.

Based on the status report submitted by Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that on-site development preparations involved the clearing of a two (2) hectare land and surfacing of road right-of-way and building area to give way for the construction of 80 housing units.

DPWH Ends Years of Muddy Road in Abulug, Cagayan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has ended Barangay San Agustin, Abulug, Cagayan residents’ years of traversing through a muddy, unpaved road by implementing a road concreting project.

DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing a report from the DPWH Region 2 Office said that the newly-paved road with a total length of 1.15 kilometer now provides convenience of travel to residents and visitors of the said barangay.

The 1.22-kilometer Maayon Bypass Road Project now decongests traffic in the main thoroughfare of the municipalities of Maayon and Cuartero, and Barangay Bailan in Pontevedra.

Improved travel time to and from the city proper awaits residents of a barangay in Zamboanga City with the newly-completed road concreting project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the 582-meter road in Barangay Bolong will promote safer mobility in the city.

“With improved connectivity, travel time to and from the metro will be reduced by ten (10) minutes, promoting daily economic activities for the 8,068 residents of Barangay Bolong,” said Director Dia.
