300 Households Protected in Ormoc City, More Flood Control Structures in Leyte Underway

With the onset of rainy season, approximately 300 households from Barangays San Isidro, Tambulilid, and Linao in Ormoc City are now protected by a flood control structure constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, the P28.5-million project along Haubon River involves the implementation of a 350-meter river wall, constructed through stone masonry with sheet piles, and steel slope protection which act as the first line of defense against river overflows.

New Female Barracks Building to Rise at Camp Aguinaldo

The Department of Public Works and Highways announced that a new female barracks building is in the works at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

DPWH National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas, together with Armed Forces of the Philippines Civil Relations Service (AFPCRS) Commander Major General Manuel V. Sequitin PA and other officials, held a recent groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for the three-storey building that will serve as female barracks of the Civil Relations Service.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is ensuring the protection of residents in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija from threats of flooding come rainy season by delivering three (3) new flood control structures in the town.

Currently in the works are two (2) flood mitigation structures in Barangay Tabuating along Pampanga River and Barangay San Roque along Peñaranda River measuring 222.4 lineal meters and 180 lineal meters, respectively.

In a bid to mitigate flooding and protect lives and properties, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has rehabilitated an 8-meter high revetment wall along the riverbanks of Amburayan River in Sudipen, La Union.

According to DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, the rehabilitation of concrete structure spanning 260-meters in Barangay Porporiket aims to lessen flooding problems and protect agricultural lands.

The flood mitigation structure is expected to block the overflow of Amburayan River during rainy and typhoon season.

Major Bridge Widening Projects in CARAGA Almost Complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon complete the widening of (2) vital bridges along Daang Maharlika Surigao – Agusan Section, namely Bangonay Bridge in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte and Magtiaco Bridge in Alegria, Surigao Del Norte.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said that widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes through the construction of parallel bridges will ensure more volume of vehicles to accommodate this section of Daang Maharlika.
