DPWH Builds Road for Farmers in Salug, Zamboanga del Norte

A newly-concreted local road now benefits farmers in Barangay Balakan and Calucap, Salug Town, Zamboanga del Norte.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar said that Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia has echoed the appreciation of corn, coconut and rice farmers for facilitating the concrete paving of road that reduces as much as 15 minutes travel time and maintenance cost of vehicles.

Regional Director Dia said that the 275-meter road concreting project was completed in two (2) months construction.

Slope Protection Projects to Ensure Road Safety in Highland Areas of Central Iloilo

Two (2) ongoing slope protection structures slated for completion by 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021 are seen to guarantee safety of upland communities in central part of Iloilo.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) is undertaking the rehabilitation of slope protection structures along Junction Bancal-Leon-Antique Road in Barangay Mali-ao, Leon; that would benefit towns of Leon and Alimodian.

Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Nears Completion

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that only few activities are left before the new Estrella Pantaleon Bridge opens this July.

Secretary Villar said that the DPWH will focus on completing approach road of the bridge and other miscellaneous works entering its final phase this couple of weeks.

At 93 percent complete barring severe weather, the goal of opening Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge to traffic by next month will likely be reached, added Secretary Villar.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that more tourists can enjoy their visit to Mt. Atugo and other tourism destinations in Ifugao with the improvement of the Lagawe-Hingyon Road in the province.

“The reduced travel time and improved accessibility between Lagawe and Hingyon is expected to provide tourism boost and growth of industries in Ifugao,” said Secretary Villar.

A flood control structure constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now ensures no more loss of crops and damage to properties in Barangay Cayetano, Dinagat, Dinagat Islands.

“Residents and farmers in this low-lying area in the municipality of Dinagat are now free from river overflow during heavy rains, which is a constant experience on the island all year round”, said Secretary Mark Villar, citing a report from DPWH Region 13 Director Pol Delos Santos.
