The Ninoy Aquino Bridge was inaugurated by His Excellency President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on August 18, 2014 in Tuao, Cagayan.

The newly constructed Uguiaban Bridge which connects Barangay Dansolihon in Cagayan de Oro City and Barangay San Isidro in Talakag town in Bukidnon was re-open to vehicular traffic on August 9, 2014.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 10 Director Evelyn T. Barroso reported that the two (2)-lane, 7.3 – meter width and 60 lineal meter long bridge replaces the old bridge which was damaged by the onslaught of typhoon “Pablo” in December 4, 2012.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson discussed with Convenors of National Save the Trees Coalition led by Fr. Robert Reyes, the Department’s program to improve the quality and safety of our national roads and how the coalition can help the government achieve its objectives and at the same time address the concerns on tree cutting. In connection with the decision of Paoay, Ilocos Norte Mayor Dolores Clemente not to allow heavy and long vehicles (8-wheeler and up) to pass through Paoay starting Monday, August 18, 2014, heavy and long vehicles bound for Laoag City and further north are advised to take right turn at Pinili MNR junction towards Banna - Marcos - Dingras then exit at San Nicolas MNR junction (big banga marker) or they can proceed direct to Batac City and turn right at Batac crossing towards Batac - Marcos - Dingras - San Nicolas MNR junction exit at the marker (big banga) and vice versa.

Construction workers and equipment are working double time in reconstructing within 10 days period the approach and carriageway of the 301 lineal meters Manila-Alabang southbound segment of Magallanes Interchange in Makati City. Started 10 in the evening of August 8, 2014, the Department of Public Works and Highways is targeting to complete this segment by August 17, 2014 by maximizing contractor’s equipment and manpower resources working 24/7 to speed up activities.

A total of Php64,186,000 were spent on road project to improve the deteriorated section of the Daang Maharlika Highway (Agusan- Davao Road) in Patin-ay, Agusan del Sur.

The Department of Public Works and Highways – Regional Office XIII (DPWH- RO 13) has allocated the budget amount under the maintenance program for its calendar year 2014 to preserve a smoother and faster transport in the area.
