Flood Control Project Strengthens Climate Resilience in Guimba, Nueva Ecija

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a vital flood control project structure along the Rio Chico River in Barangay Macamias, Guimba, Nueva Ecija – bolstering the community’s resilience against flooding.

The P47.8-million project, completed in 2-phases, involves the installation of flood control structures such as steel sheet piles, concrete beam coping, and gabions, designed to enhance structural integrity and resist water-induced damage.

Upgraded Road Boosts Agri Logistics in Central Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed asphalt paving works along a 4.8-kilometer portion of the Leganes-Sta. Barbara Road, supporting the agricultural communities in Iloilo Province.

According to DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the upgraded stretch covers Barangay Lapayon in Leganes and extends through Barangays Agutayan, Lupa, and Cabugao Norte in Sta. Barbara.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of revetment structures along the Gingoog River in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, providing stronger flood protection in the area.

Implemented under multiple contract packages, the project includes road excavation, hand-laid embankments, installation of structural sheet piles, and the clearing and grubbing of vegetation to make way for a 559 meter-long flood wall.

In a major step toward enhancing road safety and connectivity in Northern Luzon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the replacement of the Babanuang Bridge along the Santiago–Tuguegarao Road in Barangay Babanuang, San Manuel, Isabela.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II Director Mathias L. Malenab, announced that the completed P48.5-million bridge project addresses long-standing safety concerns associated with old bridge structure, which had been deemed structurally deficient and unfit for regular use.

Key Tawi-Tawi Bridge Nears Completion, Boosting Infrastructure Support for Bangsamoro

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that construction of the Nalil-Sikkiat Bridge No. 1 in Tawi-Tawi Province is now 96 percent complete and is scheduled to open by July 2025.

The 541-meter bridge, part of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-assisted Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project (IGCMRSP), aims to connect Bongao Island to Sanga-Sanga Island. It is one (1) of three (3) major bridges in Tawi-Tawi supporting the President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administration’s “Build Better More” program.
