DPWH to Construct First Viaduct in Southern Leyte

A viaduct that will improve both the accessibility and tourism potential of Southern Leyte is now being prepared for construction by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Instead of blasting hard rock to clear an area for road opening intended for the construction of new San Ricardo-Liloan Road in the province, DPWH will build a 200-meter viaduct snaking through the rock formation.

Landslide at Uguiaban Bypass Road

Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office X advises the public that Uguiaban Bypass Road, in Cagayan de Oro is temporarily closed to traffic following the occurrence of landslide Friday, October 14, 2016.

Motorists traversing the said route are advised to take the main road via Talakag-Lumbia while clearing operation is being conducted by DPWH Maintenance crew.

DPWH to Repair 2 Roads in QC This Weekend

The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) will undertake reblocking and repair on two roads in Quezon City on October 15, Saturday.

DPWH identified two national roads as the southbound of Mindanao Avenue, before Mindanao Tunnel and the eastbound of Batasan Road, in Litex – Batasan Gate.

One (1) day curing concrete will be used for the repair hence roads will be reopened on Sunday, October 16.

Motorists are advised to take Balintawak/Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Commonwealth Avenue respectively.

Villar: Permit for Infra-Projects Need to Be Government to Government

Department of Public Works and Highways’ Mark Villar reiterated the need to secure permits for infra-projects government to government.



"Following President Duterte's mandate to cut down corruption and streamline the process, DPWH is proposing that permits, licenses are secured government to government," Villar said.



"Instead of contractors going to department agencies, local government units, DPWH would like to centralize the processing inside the Department," he added.



Stakeholders' Consultation on Building Code Amendment Held in Baguio City

The government seek opinions of all stakeholders in its effort to revise the existing National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

A consultation with all relevant stakeholders from Regions 1, 2, 3, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was held recently in Baguio City highlighted by proposal to strengthen disaster risk reduction including recommendation to incorporate provision on special sites and parking space as temporary evacuation during calamities.

DPWH Installs Water Collection System in Quirino Province

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has installed 19 rain water collection system for schools in Quirino province, an innovative way to maximize use of rainwater for sanitation purposes.

The rain water collection systems were installed at elementary and secondary schools in the municipalities of Aglipay, Cabarroguis, Diffun, Maddela and Nagtipunan.

According DPWH Quirino District Engineering Office (QDEO) District Engineer Marifel T. Andes, P3.4 million was allocated for the construction of these rain water collection systems.

DPWH Completes Improvement of Access Road to Albay's Misibis Bay

A beach destination in Bacacay, Albay is now more accessible with newly-improved roads that are projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Tourism.

The 8-kilometer Cagraray Circumferential Road and the 12-kilometer Sto. Domingo-Misibis Road, both leading to Cagraray Island where the known Misibis Bay is located, have been rehabilitated, paved, and widened to become safer access roads for tourists.

DPWH-XI Has a New Regional Director

The DPWH-XI has a new regional director in the person of Engr. Allan S. Borromeo. He took over the leadership from RD Mariano R. Alquiza during a simple turn-over ceremony at the DPWH-XI regional office Wednesday, October 12.

Engr. Borromeo until his assignment here in region eleven was the Assistant Regional Director of DPWH-Region 12 based in Koronadal City.

Engr. Borromeo is also a seasoned engineer of the DPWH who rose from the ranks starting as laborer at the then MPWH Cagayan de Oro City Sub-District Engineering Office on October 5, 1985.

6 DPWH Cadet Engineers Take Oath for Public Service

Six DPWH Cadet Engineers – Batch 3 for Engineer II positions take oath at the DPWH-8 Office of the Director, Baras, Palo, Leyte last September 29, 2016.

OIC Director Edgar B. Tabacon presided over the oath taking ceremony which was attended by District Officials – including District Engineer Carlos Veloso of Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) and District Engineer Lut Baclea-an of Leyte 3rd DEO. Also in attendance were: Gina L. Franco, Chief, Cash Section of Administrative Division, Engr. Marina Bautista and Engr. Ma. Rosario Margallo.
