DPWH Region 9 Gears for ISO: 9001:2008

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 9 Director Jorge U. Sebastian, Jr., and Assistant Regional Director Nenita A. Robles lead the unveiling of the ISO: 9001:2008 marker, indicative of the regional office’s journey in attaining certification of Quality Management System geared towards providing better service to the general public as directed by DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson. The Region 9 office, along with several DPWH offices nationwide, is aiming to be ISO-certified this year.

P180-M Bridge Crossing Iloilo River Opens

A new bridge connecting Muelle Loney and Lapuz district in Iloilo City was formally opened to vehicular traffic.

Senate President Franklin Drilon and Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Muelle Loney (Drilon) Bridge crossing Iloilo River. They were joined by DPWH Region 6 Director Edilberto Tayao, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Iloilo 2nd District Representative Arcadio Gorriceta, and other local officials.

DPWH Employee Returns Lost Wallet of a Retired Military Officer

A Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) employee has returned a lost wallet of a retired military official he found inside the DPWH Head Office in Port Area, Manila.

Mr. Rodolfo C. Poyaoan Jr., an Administrative Assistant IV under job order status of DPWH Unified Project Management Office – Buildings and Special Projects Management Cluster (UPMO-BSPMC) found a wallet beside Land Bank ATM machine at the DPWH Head Office around 3:00 p.m. last Tuesday, January 19, 2016, and returned it the same day to the rightful owner.

Ribbon Cutting of New Iloilo Bridge

Committing Towards a More Competitive and Better Governance

The Department of Public Works and Highways Region 10 (DPWH-X) held a 4 day seminar/ workshop on the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (R.A.) 9184. The workshop happened on October 20-23, 2015 at the new DPWH-X conference room. This was attended by different DPWH-X Staff and officials including Engineers, Procurement Staffs and other personnel representing their respective sections.

DPWH: 36-km Arnedo Dike Needs P20B for Total Rehab

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) bared that the 65-year-old, 36-kilometer Arnedo Dike – now known as “Pampanga River Bank” – needs at least P20 billion for the full reconstruction and rehabilitation of the whole structure from Arayat to Apalit towns.

DPWH Assistant Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan said the department is doing its best to obtain full funding for the dike repair.

However, the amount of P20 billion is highly improbable to be approved by both houses of Congress for the Pampanga River Bank alone.

P465-Million Tourism Road Projects in Panay Island

The construction of connectivity roads has improved access to tourist destinations in Panay Island.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 has implemented P465 Million worth of road projects funded under FY 2015 national budget to create the gateway to tourism places in the provinces of Aklan, Antique and Capiz.

In the province of Aklan, the DPWH is undertaking two major road projects which provide better and more convenient access to the world-renowned Boracay Island – the Widening of Aklan West Road and Road Opening of Kalibo Circumferential Road.
