DPWH Reactivates "Lakbay-Alalay" on Holy Week

Department of Public Works and Highways motorist assistance teams will be on duty along major thoroughfares to help travelers this coming Lenten break.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson has instructed all Regional Directors and District Engineers nationwide to reactivate its motorist assistance program dubbed as “Lakbay Alalay” from March 21-28, 2016.

Lakbay Alalay teams composed of DPWH personnel and mechanics ready with equipment and service vehicles will be placed in strategic locations along national roads where there are influx of motorists.

DPWH Opens Summer Job for Youth

College students and out-of-school youth are welcomed to participate in the summer government internship program (GIP) of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the DPWH Head Office will accept another batch of 50 interns for learn and work experience in government this summer which will be provided with daily stipend 75% of the minimum wage in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Buses and Trucks Plying Maharlika Highway in Camarines Sur to Take Detour Routes

Buses and cargo trucks going to and from Camarines Sur and Albay will have to follow a rerouting scheme effective March 3, 2016 due to replacement works of San Miguel bridge along Daang Maharlika in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

In his report to Department of Public Works and Highways Region 5 Director Reynaldo Tagudando, DPWH Camarines Sur 4th OIC-District Engineer Nestor P. Gorimbao said that the old two-lane San Miguel Bridge in Barangay San Miguel, Nabua, Camarines Sur will be closed to traffic but with access to the constructed detour bridge limited for light vehicles only.

DPWH Region VIII Conducts Orientation on ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System

Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office VIII Employees participated in the ISO-QMS Orientation held January 27-28, 2016 at the DPWH Multi-Purpose Building, Baras, Palo, Leyte.

The orientation is designed for the DPWH Region VIII employees to understand and support the Department’s move for all of its Regional Offices to attain ISO 9001 Certification as well as the possible benefits from being an ISO certified agency.
